What:    Direct from Beijing, the 2008 World Tour of Gymnastics Superstars featuring the reigning world champion Shawn Johnson, Olympic Champion Paul Hamm and 9 time World medalist Nastia Liukin plus the men and women of the Team USA gymnastics team are coming to the Rose Garden on Friday, September 26.
Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson were automatically named to the Olympic team by finishing in the top two at the Olympic Trials.

The remainder of the six-member team and three alternates, Ivana Hong, Jana Bieger and Corrie Lothrop, were named on July 19, after a selection camp in Houston, Texas.

Because the rules of gymnastics do not require athletes to compete on all apparatus, in order to field a competitive team the selection committee will select the remaining athletes based on their strengths and weakneses relative to other team members.

Two members of the U.S. men's gymnastics team, Paul Hamm and Jonathan Horton, were named at the conclusion of the Olympic Trials. The rest of the team was announced the following day after a lengthy meeting of the men's selection committee. On July 28, Hamm withdrew from the Olympics and was replaced by Raj Bhavsar.  Although Paul Hamm will not compete at the Olympics he will be making an appearance at the 2008 World Tour of Gymnastics Superstars.  The other members of the men’s team includes: Morgan Hamm, Kevin Tan, Joe Hagerty, and Justin Spring.
