Mötley Crüe, the world’s most notorious rock band, will bring the next generation of rock’s superstars to the Rose Garden, Saturday, August 9th for what will undoubtedly be the hottest ticket of the year for rock fans: “Crüe Fest ’08.” There is an impressive line-up for the first year of the tour which includes Buckcherry, Papa Roach, breakout rock artist Sixx:A.M., and alternative rock band Trapt. Says Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe,”We are so excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands. There’s not a lot Mötley Crüe hasn’t done so to say this summer’s festival is going to be about rock ‘n roll excess is an understatement. A night of hit songs by great bands and a trail of panties coast to coast… Crüe Fest, hell yeah!” Mötley Crüe was founded by bass guitarist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, who were later joined by lead guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil. Mötley Crüe is one of the best-selling American hard rock/heavy metal acts, having sold over 75 million album copies worldwide, including 25 million copies in the US alone. The band has often been noted for their hard-living lifestyles; all members have had numerous brushes with the law, spent time in jail, suffered long addictions to alcohol and drugs, had countless escapades with beautiful women, and are heavily tattooed. Mötley Crüe will release “Saints of Los Angeles,” their first new studio album recorded with all of the original band members in over a decade, on June 17th. “Saints Of Los Angeles,” includes backing vocals by Josh Todd (Buckcherry), Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), James Michael (Sixx:A.M.) and Chris Brown (Trapt) is the title track of the new album. Lyrically, the new album follows the story of the band’s NY Times best-selling memoir The Dirt, a no-holds-barred tell-all that features every gritty detail of the band’s exploits as one of the world’s biggest rock bands.
Buckcherry was formed after vocalist Josh Todd met guitarist Keith Nelson through their tattoo artist after discovering a common love of AC/DC. The duo made a few demos before being joined by bassist Jonathan Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn. Buckcherry began performing the Hollywood club scene, receiving a strong, local following due to their old school Rock N' Roll vibe. They named the band "Buckcherry" after a transvestite who frequented their shows. They were signed to DreamWorks Records shortly after. The band released two albums (1999's eponymous debut and 2001's "Time Bomb") before dissolving in summer 2002. In 2005, Josh Todd (lead vocals) and Keith Nelson (guitar) put together a new band using the Buckcherry moniker and released a new album in April 2006 called 15, and it spawned Buckcherry's biggest crossover hits to date, "Crazy Bitch" and the band's first Hot 100 top ten hit, "Sorry".
The formation of Papa Roach began in January of 1993, when Jacoby Shaddix (vocals) and Dave Buckner (drums) met on the Vacaville High School football field during an intense match, where the two ended up talking about music. They were later joined by Mark Rabinovich (bass) and Andrew Saturley (trombone) completing Papa Roach’s first ever line-up. They broke into the mainstream with their three times platinum major-label debut album Infest (2000). The group's success continued with later releases Lovehatetragedy (2002) and Getting Away with Murder (2004). The group's fourth major album, The Paramour Sessions, was released on September 12, 2006.
Sixx:A.M. is a rock band formed by Nikki Sixx, bassist and founder of rock band Mötley Crüe, DJ Ashba and James Michael. The band has made the album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack which is based upon Sixx's book The Heroin Diaries. The band made their live debut at Crash Mansion on July 16, 2007. They played five songs from the album, The Heroin Diaries. The CD was made as the official soundtrack to The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.
Trapt are a four-piece post-grunge/alternative metal band, formed in 1997 with Chris Brown on vocals, Simon Ormandy playing guitar, Peter Charell on bass, and David Stege playing the drums. Shortly after, they recorded two albums (Amalgamation and Glimpse) to sell when they played at local venues. The band received a great response, and a buzz started to grow. On November 22, 2002 the band released the self-titled Trapt which produced a total of three singles. "Headstrong" was the first, and it reached #1 on both the US Modern Rock and Us Mainstream Rock charts, as well as #16 on the US Hot 100, marking their most successful single to date, and becoming the theme song for WWE Bad Blood during June 2003.
